Hello Mark....

To correct this problem just open Terminal (Applications → Accesories → Terminal) and type

sudo dpkg --configure -a

and if you still have a problem after running

sudo dpkg --congiure -a

run

sudo apt-get install -f

then update your package lists and upgrade packages

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
