I tried to enter your suggested command exactly as you wrote it with
spaces between the "/" and
the result was a new error.

Result in swedish (copy from the computer)
/är en katalog
Kontrollera att du angav platsen korrekt och försök igen.

Result in english (my translation)
/is a directory
Check that you entered the information correct and try again.

This is my translation, so I hope you have some use of it.
The errormessage was written in program gedit with a red background.

There may have been mistake due to spacing.

The command is:
gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Only two spaces 1) Between gksudo and gedit 2) Between gedit and /etc/apt/sources.list

I had the exact same problem at "line 43". I solved the problem with help of the thread above. I just added:

in front of the line 43 which was malfunctioning for me.
