Repeated wav playback fail of Pulse Audio/Alsa Mixer

Asked by Mokie

Repeated wav playback fail of Pulse Audio/Alsa Mixer. Under WINE when playing any of the old DOOM or related games: There is a continual Failure of Pulse Audio/Alsa Mixer to playback the games .wav format files after any loud transient. Is there a Fix for this? Is there Any Way to Over-ride Pulse Audio's Default Auto Limiting? (Which I suspect to be the cause of this long-term and Unresolved issue).

There is a native Doom client (if you mean the original Dooms).

Have you check the WINE AppDb for compatibility?

Yes they are Listed as compatible. The only issue is the .wav Playback
being cut off after 'Loud Transients' I believe by PulsAudio's
AutoGain/AutoLimiter function. Which is why I am asking if there is
any way to over-ride Pulse Audio's defaulty AutoGain/AutoLimiter
Function.

This is the 'audio playback issue' reason why Linux isn't generally
good for gaming.

More directly: Is there a way to Over-ride Pulse Audio's
Auto-gain/auto-limiter function? What seems to be happening is this:
When Pulse Audio is required to intermix three or more simultaneous
.wav file playbacks, and their overall unity gain exceeds a certain
Pulseaudio default threshold, Pulseaudio's Auto-Limiter function kicks
in, and clamps all of the .wav file audio output that it handles to
zero, until the application/game is exited and then restarted.
