hmm installing Windows after Ubuntu is not the ideal option but (it makes you jump through a few hoops since windows bootloader does not recognise Linux.....

what you have to do is boot from a cd/usb stick and load the gparted partition manager... and resize your ubuntu partition to give yourself room for windows...

then just boot from the windows vista disk and create an ntfs volume in that empty space (be careful not to delete the ubuntu partition.

install windows to said volume......

now what you'll have is both os's on your computer however yo will need to reinstall grub as the primary bootloader... for that refer to this..... https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecoveringUbuntuAfterInstallingWindows

Hi Klaus,

Do you have your windows install disk? If so, simply boot off that, and install. Note that windows will overwrite your drive, so if you have any files you want to keep, back them up somewhere else (CD, network storage, etc).

yeah but if you just do that you will be back at square 1, just Windows..... then have to reinstall Ubuntu again. which isn't what he wants... he wants to install windows again beside Ubuntu... another words he wants the choice of which OS to use when he boots his computer.....

You can just reinstate Grub2 to the MBR and be ok. No need to reinstall Ubuntu. Personally I'd just reinstall Windows to a portion of the drive then install Ubuntu to the free space. You can then restore user data from your backups
