This does not help....the statement that this question has been answered does not ring true for me. As I have stated...I cannot get to "Start" or control panel....

Could you give more detail, so I will be able to provide you a better answer ?
We can else repair dual boot or restore Windows boot.
In last case, do you have a Windows Repair or an Installation disk ?

A friend thought I would like firefox so he put it on. Shortly after that I went to use it and found Ububtu and I can't find the start or get to the control panel to do a restore. I took it to a local stop and a young kid tried to first get rid of ubuntu and then firfox but was not able to undo Ubuntu. This computer came with Windows xp and I want it back. I don't believe it was removed. I am unable to reach the party that did this...and I have googled and tried to figure out how to uninstall. They all say to go to the control panel and restore or delete and I can't do that. This is extremely frustrating to me. Thanks for any help

I need to check if you still have Windows recovery partition
---------------------
Please provide partition table.

If you can't boot from hard drive, boot en Ubuntu CD/USB stik and then choose "Try without install".

Open a terminal: you can either press Ctrl+Alt+T or Applications->Accessories->Terminal.

To copy/paste in a terminal, replace Ctrl+C by Ctrl+Shift+C and Ctrl+V by Ctrl+Shift+V (for historical reason, Ctrl+C is assigned another function).

Paste to terminal the following commands:

    sudo fdisk -l

where "-l" is lower case "L".

Copy/paste result into a new thread post.

If you have Windows installation disk, I presume you simply have to reboot on it to reinstall Windows. But you could lost your data.
To know this, you will have to go on a Windows forum.

"When ever I try to do the ctrl thing I get server not found": At which step are you ?

Can you help with this problem?
