With Maverick sometimes sda is assigned to USB key and sdb to hard disk. Unfortunately, ubiquity (installer) continue to install on sda.
Follow this link, by replacing CD-ROM by USB key, and sda by sdb:

I remove link. Issue is about wrong placed MBR, not slow boot.

i have install ubuntu 10.10 latest edition (with pre existing win7)
make :
/dev/sda7 /boot = 100mb
8 / = 3000mb
9 /usr = 2000mb
10 /var = 5000mb
11 swap = 4000mb

and install ubuntu on /boot i.e /dev/sda7 , installation has completed and ask for reboot for completion. but aftef reboot i get my win7 os boot with no promp for (no windows boot screen) selection for ubuntu or windows 7.

when i see disk management or trying to reinstall for ubuntu it is not saying me for ubuntu repair and it is also showing ubuntu on /dev/sda8 that is "/" .

note i have install from usb .

i try to install it again that time it is showing that it is install on dev/sda8 but i want to know is there any thing like UBUNTU REPAIR (eg launch windows repair option in win)

so for next time also it is saying me for install it whole and gives option to select "{whole HDD 500gb}/ any specific drive" .as previous i select the /dev/sda7 where i mount "/boot" no dought it is install but it is not coming using f8 also.

so i think i have to select the whole HDD (but it says the file system may change and the data may loss) .

i want to know which drive u select fot "BOOT LOADING" ("/boot" OR "/" i.e /dev/sda7-8) or whole HBB i.e /dev/sda .
please specify

I've selected whole /dev/sda for everything, and didn't make any /boot
device . I've backed up all my information and then installation
system erased my hdd and i made it without any fear.

@syed's
Could you open a new question, with summary of issue and what was done, and link it to packet "ubiquity", so I will get a notification mail.
As question is marked "Solved", anybody will have a look at it.
Please, could you also post result of command "sudo parted -l".
