How do I get Ubuntu to translate a program?

Asked by Caroline Ford

Ubuntu currently has tuxpaint and tuxmath available for translation using launchpad (this is the packages in Ubuntu, not upstream).

How do I get tuxtype available for translation? It does use GNU gettext. I presume a template has to be imported manually by someone.

Thanks.

But it's not a question for the tuxtype developers (who are the only
people who will read Qs there). It's an Ubuntu/launchpad thing.

I'm from upstream - it's not us, it's you.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations should be a good starting point. Or ask the translation team <https://translations.launchpad.net/+groups/ubuntu-translators> of the language you want to translate to.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Caroline Ford for more information if necessary.
