totem package

not able to play .rmvb format in ubuntu 9

When i'm trying to play a .rmvb file in totem player, nothing happens. The file is just added up in the playlist and then nothing happens? So please help me out.

Please enable the "multiverse" repository from System→Administration→Software sources... [Ubuntu software] tab

Then install and use smplayer from terminal type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install smplayer

you will find smplayer under Applications→Sound & Video→SMPlayer
