I am unable to run a DVD in my computer using movie player. My OS is UBUNTU. It is asking for a suitable plug in, which it is unable to search automatically. Kindly help mes

Do you runned the "sudo apt-get update"?
It may help you. Run it and try to search for plugins again.

thanks for the answer. I tried that. But it could not solve the problem. The
message is
"search for suitable plug in, The required software to play this file is not
installed.You need to install suitable plugins to play media files. Do you
want to search for a plugin that supports the selected file?"

VLC can play VOB's, but they are not built to work this way. Ideally you should burn the entire VIDEO_TS directory to a DVD for proper viewing.
