i guess its called the "default keyring" that needs unlocked everytime i boot Ubuntu. its a huge pain in my ass and is really the only complaint i have with Linux. i live alone, no one else uses this computer and if i want to run my PC wide open i should be able to do that. if i cant fix this problem i will go back to windows. at least windows doesn't pester me for a password every 5 minutes. Ubuntu needs to fix this problem! it sucks!

System administration -> Login window
unlock the GUI with inserting your password
option:
"always login as ..."
save and done. Reboot to test.

Howto enable 'root' is explained in the former mentioned link.
It's also about freedom of choice.
Enjoy Ubuntu.
