Root User Default Password Unknown

I set up (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server Edition - Supported to 2013) in my machine successfully but during the installation process it didn't asks me to set the (Root) user password , and I don't know the default password of (root) user, Now I can't do any administrative operation on the machine , So can any one tell me how I can get it (default root password)?

Note:
I tried the word (password) in the password field but it didn't work.

type:

    sudo su -

then will prompt to type password, then type the password of your user (no
root, your first user) and voila, You are root then

:D

In ubuntu, you don't really use root. You have to use "sudo yourcommand" so that "yourcommand" gets executed as root.
sudo will (check if you have administrative privileges, at first, if yes then) ask for your current user's password.
