i'm trying to install as program using comand line and when it asks me for my sudo password, my keyboard won't type the password. Can you tell me what I need to do to fix this?

Asked by murpjf88

I am trying to use coomand line to install a program on ubunto. When I type in the command line, which works just fine, it tells me to enter my sudo password which is the same password which logs me onto the computer. When I attempt to type in my password, the cursor doesn't move and the keyboard won't type the password. However, if I hit return, the message reads incorrect password. I don't know where to go from here.

When you type a password for sudo, to get super user access (root), on a terminal you don't get any visual feedback.

So type the password, then press enter.

Hope this helps
