sudo shows the password after newline

Asked by rumpelstilzchen

When I use sudo to run a command and enter a newline character before typing in my password the characters are shown. This happens both in lxterminal and on a tty. To reproduce this behavior run sudo -k with any command. The password is accepted regardless. Is this a bug?

sounds like a bug. Please also mark it as a security risk. You can start the process with:

ubuntu-bug sudo

Thanks
