I guess you try to run from USB drive or cdrom?
try this.
username: ubuntu
password: [just leave it blank/enter]
enter.

On the other hand, if you just installed Ubuntu, then the password is whatever password you set during installation. If you don't remember this password, you'll have to reset it: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword

Another interpretation of your question that I can think of is that you are *trying* to install Ubuntu, but you are unable to get past the screen where it asks you to put in your password, and then to put it in again to confirm it. If that's what's going on, then make sure that the password is exactly the same both times you type it in. Make sure Caps Lock isn't on (unless you want it to be). And make sure your username (not your real name, but the usually shorter name you use to log on) is composed entirely of letters and (if you want) numbers (in particular, no spaces) and starts with a letter.

Can you help with this problem?
