sudo nautilus unable to enter password

After I type sudo nautilus and it asks for my password I am unable to enter any characters at all (and I don't have the caps lock button on).

No worries, just input your password and press the 'Enter' key.

When inputting passwords, Terminal does not echo the characters you typed-in for security purposes.

...and use the lines of codes below:

gksudo nautilus

instead of using...

sudo nautilus

This prevents files in your home directory becoming owned by root (In such cases).
