Try

first run the following command from a terminal
sudo apt-get update

check for any errors in the output. If you find any issue report here.

If the above command runs fine then again try to install a package from software center

I have the same problem. When I run 'sudo apt-get update' I get the following error:

W: GPG error: http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com oneiric Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <email address hidden>
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/partner i386 Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric_partner_binary-i386_Packages)

Can anyone let me know how to solve this? Thanks!

found terminal shell by serching for name in files.
performed sudo apt get as in notes downloades 1,220 kilobytes after that did not get
check internet message.
This also involved a foreign package warning but at download which also stoped must be somehow coupled.
Thank you for the help.
