Paid software source gives 404 error when trying to install

Asked by Eric Leclerc

Hi there,

I recently purchased a game via the Ubuntu Software Centre "Paid Software" section and it is unable to install. When I add the private software source repository to my /etc/apt/sources.list sent via email to me I get a 404 error when trying to install via any method (USC, Synaptic, apt-get). Not sure what steps to take next, but it appears that the link generated by my purchase was not created or is no good. In addition the "Reinstall Purchased Software" link from USC also errors out with a 'Method "CreateItem" with signature "a{sv}(oayay)b" on interface "org.freedesktop.Secret.Collection" doesn't exit' message. This might be just because the software never did actually install and therefore there's nothing to reinstall, but I'm grasping at straws at this point.

I ran apt-get clean/autoclean/update/upgrade, and also dpkg --configure -a and apt-get install -f in my attempts to resolve the issue, but no luck.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Eric

Hi Eric, thanks for your question and I'm very sorry for the trouble you've had in downloading your purchase. You did not mention, but this problem is for the game Beep, is that correct? As it turns out, there was a problem in the archive itself with the deployment of an update to Beep and this has caused some folks to not be able to download due to 404 errors.

The game update has been redeployed and the problem should now be resolved. Please retry your download and it should work. Of course, let us know if you have any further problems.

Again, sorry for your trouble and thank you for your patience!
