Cannot Install Chromium Web Browser

Asked by Dennis Primm

Binary package hint: software-center

I attempted to install Chromium three times and each time I received an error message stating to check my internet connection. The details of these messages follow:

I also downloaded and installed another web browser, Arora, from the software center and it worked perfectly. I really want to use Chrome (as I use it as default on my Windows system (I should't' have said that :-) ), so I would appreciate some help here. I really love Ubuntu and would like to get Wine working on my system, but haven't had too much luck lately. Anyhow, any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Dennis

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug. There is also a vibrant support community available at http://askubuntu.com and you might consider asking your question there.

Dear actionparsnip,

I want to thank you and everyone else at Ubuntu for your expeditious
responses. I have to apologise as I just tried downloading it again and it
worked (magically) this time (or someone else in Ubuntu heaven clicked a
switch "ON" telling the system to let me have it!!! Either way I am super
happy and want to express my sincerest appreciation for your help.

Regards,

No I am good to go now. I don't know why it wouldn't work, but I tried it
one more time after submitting the bug and it automatically worked
beautifully!!!

The Ubuntu Team is just AWESOME!!! I want to completely forget about Microsoft products, and I think with a little help I can get used to using Ubuntu Linux. I think that it along with Mint are the most user friendly, but I'll stick with Ubuntu due to your expeditious and professional help.

I just don't know how much I can thank you guys!

Sincerely,

Dennis S. Primm
