Is it not possible to install program in ubuntu? I do just trying to install a photo software from the list but no way.

Asked by Odd K. Hauge

No problem at all, I continue to use Windows XP where there is very little of these sort of problems. Sorry for asking.
Have a nice day.

We will need more information to work on.... How are you trying to install and where from?

In the mean time:
Basic Toolkit
1) Download the Linux Starter Pack - http://www.tuxradar.com/linuxstarterpack
2) Look at the UNOFFICIAL Ubuntu Guide - http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Lucid
3) Look at the UNOFFICIAL Kubuntu Guide - http://kubuntuguide.org/Lucid
4) Look at Psychocats - http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu
5) Download the Ubuntu Pocket Guide and Reference - http://www.ubuntupocketguide.com/index_main.html
6) Download Ubuntu 10.4 Manual - http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/04/ubuntu-1004-manual-released.html

Do you want install software in Ubuntu... you have multiple way, the simple use the menu:

Applications→Ubuntu Software Center

Or using Applications→Accessories→Terminal type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp

Gimp is a good software to manipulate photos...

Thanks a lot.
Gimp is good.
I think I now have to install Ubuntu again and I keep going on to recommend
Ubuntu on my corner on line :o), but in the meantime needed 82 updates for
WindowsXP to become installed.
