Ne najde scannerja Canon pixma MP495

Kot kaže, Canon ponuja Linux gonilnike tako za printer kot za scanner za to napravo:

Ja, tudi po tem, ko sem 'naložil' driver, žal ne funkcionira. Ali moram restartirati računalnik?

Ali se gonilnik sploh naloži? Kateri Ubuntu imaš in s katerim programom si poskusil skanirati? Reset načeloma ni potreben, lahko pa poskusiš.

Imam Ubuntu 12.04 a programi s katerimi poskušam so: XSane Image scanning
program; Enostavno skeniranje in Scanlite.

Odpri terminal in vpiši vanj naslednja ukaze ter sporoči kaj izpišeta:

scanimage -L

Iskreno, nisem prav prepričan da sem sploh pravilno instaliral program. Ali
obstaja kakšno navodilo kako to naredim?

Si potegnil s tiste strani pravi arhiv in ga razpakiral, nato pognal install.sh ali kako drugače?

Ne, mislil sem da to pri Ubuntu gre avtomatično, ... :)
Očitno torej rabim navodila kako to napraviti. Prosim za pomoč?

Na tisti strani izberi Software nato počakaj, da se naloži seznam pod "Your Operating system" izberi Linux ter klikni search. Ostalo bo le še nekaj datotek. Potegni dol "Linux IJ Scanner driver" in ga shrani.

Nato ga odpri s tem programčkom, ki pride za razpakiranje arhivov. Notri boš videl 3 datoteke. 2x klikni na scangearamp-mp495series...deb.tar.gz, ki se bo odprla v novem oknu in bo vsebovala samo eno mapo z imenom scangear..... To mapo sedaj razpakiraj npr. v domačo mapo, nato pa v terminalu vpišeš naslednje:

cd scangear*
sudo ./install.sh in slediš navodilom.

Lahko potem tudi skopiraš vsebino izpisa terminala, sploh če bo javljalo kake napake.

Sem napravil in poskusil zagnati a še vedno ne 'najde skanerja'.

Inštalacija je torej šla uspešno skozi. Sedaj bo verjetno res potreben ponovni zagon računalnika. Nato ponovno poskusi z ukazom scanimage -L če bo sistem tokrat prepoznal scanner.

Robert, hvala ti za pomoč a se zdi da mi je instalacija
scangearmp-common_1.80-0~11~precise1_i386.deb in
scangearmp-mp280series_1.80-0~11~precise1_i386.deb
pomagala tako da mi sedaj z programom ScanGear uspe zaznati skener.
Pomoč v tem smislu sem dobil na Forumu Ask Ubuntu kjer je nekdo razložil da
ti novejši driverji uspejo odpraviti to napako.

Sicer pa ne razumem kako ti ni odprlo priponko ker jo meni odpre, a sedaj
je vseeno.

Še enkrat, resnično hvala za tvoj trud in asistenco.

Hvala še enkrat! Na Ask Ubuntu forumu sem najdel možnost rešitve in ko sem instaliral
 scangearmp-common_1.80-0~11~precise1_i386.deb
in
scangearmp-mp280series_1.80-0~11~precise1_i386.deb
mi najde skener s ScanGear programom.
