Ubuntu username not recognized

Asked by Jack Warford

I installed ubuntu using wubi. At the start of the download I am asked to enter username and password, done. Install completes, reboot conducted, ubuntu log-in screen does not recognize my username or password. All I can use is the guest log in. I have to be doing something wrong but I am new to ubuntu and I have no idea where I am going wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated...really want to start using the OS.

Raring is EOL and no longer supported in any way. Also Wubi has not been developed for over 2 YEARS and is abandoned.

I suggest you perform a last backup of your user data and un install Wubi. Resize your NTFS partition and install Trusty to the freed space. Trusty is LTS and supported til April 2019.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Jack Warford for more information if necessary.
