Rhythmbox Fails to extract metadata

Asked by RayArdia

Using Rhythmbox ver 2.90.1 on Ubuntu 11.10, I am having problems gettting CDs to import data into Rhythmbox. Tracks show simply as Track 1 etc.. Unknown Artist. I don't recall ever having this problem before.
I have tried most of the available Music Players VLC, Clementine, Gnome Music Player Client etc without success.

What I would like to do is to find and remove all the players I have tried and then install ONLY the one that you reccommend as being suitable for a non-tech person.

Am I expecting too much to have the Track No, Track Name and Artist transferred automatically from a CD loaded into my laptop?
I also want to be able to copy music from a CD and from my Music folder ont a portable MP3 player (Intenso Music Walker)

Can someone please help me to get back to 'square one'?

You can tag files using easytag, otherwise not sure. Do other players work ok?

Thanks,
Where do I find Easytags?
Tried Clementine with the same results, does that help pinpoint the problem?
