WAS ANSWERING YOUR LETTER WHEN YAHOO DID IT AGAIN, I LOST THE LETTER AND HAD TO START OVER.  I WAS THANKING YOU FOR THE FAST RESPONSE AND WHAT I SHOULD BE READING. so much information on Ubuntu and the book i have (for dummies).  THE NEXT TIME I HAVE A PROBLEM I'LL CONTACT YOU, YOUR KNOWLEDGE IS VERY HELPFUL......

Or the more advanced way if you disable the NetworkManager you can edit the file:
/etc/network/interfaces
