Your result sound familiar to what I've seen during testing different module settings, so with luck one setting might work across distributions.

You might be interested in testing "options snd-hda-intel model=laptop,dell-vostro position_fix=0,1" too. Jack plug sensing have worked without problems with this module option since yesterday on my Fedora 15 installation.
