how to install yahoo messenger on ubuntu 8.04

Install Pidgin and reate an account with protocol "Yahoo".

There is a yahoo messenger for Unix but its quite old and unmaintained... Dont use it. Pidgin is better and supports multiple protocols...

how to configure pidgin. to chant in yahoo messenger

Open accounts, click ADD, select Yahoo as protocol.
Then enter username and password and start chatting...

As simple as it could be... :)

We don't have to install the Messenger.
In stead, use this web version.
Save it in Favorites, so we can use it on daily basis.

no webam is not supported. even i dont see any webcam supported chat in ubuntu.

Only way to get webcam chat in Ubuntu is probably Skype.

amsn and kopete also supposedly have webcam support..has anyone tried these and can give a review?

can someone help me solving the problem of voice chat in Kubuntu. everything is working well, only the voice chat is not working at all.
