password change is ignored for administration

Asked by Sylvestra

Hi everybody!

I just set up a Lucid Lynx System for my younger brother. He tried to change the password a day later and now he can login with the new password, but when he needs the keyring, only the old password is valid. I didn't see a bug in launchpad about this, so I'd like to ask first, if there's a simple workaround how he can change the "root" password as well.

Best Regards

Sylvestra,

You are not actually referring to the "root" password, but the Keyring password. What you need to do is change the Keyring password to match the new login password.

Click on Applications / Accessories / Passwords and Encryption Keys

On the Passwords tab (default tab that opens), right click on the "Passwords: login" the select "Change Password", change the password to match the new Login password.

Best of luck,
George
