OO 3.0, Check for Updates

Hi

I clicked Help > Check for updates ... and got the following error message: Checking for an update failed.

How can I fix this? Thanks.

Open Office should be updated through a package manager, not through the program itself.

My guess is that you installed Openoffice.org 3.0 from the openoffice
website and not from an ubuntu repo, is that correct? Which version of
ubuntu are you running?

Try installing from here:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa

They provide some updates on a fairly regular basis.

That's the only place I know of that will give you the updates through
update manager.
