How can I change the default font?

Asked by Bob

OO 2.4.1 in 8.10

How do I change the default font for every text document I open?

I left click on the default in styles and formatting and set everything where I want but the next time I open a new text document it reverts back to where it was before.

Thanks for any help in advance. Bob.

In Open Office Writer, go to Tools and then Options. Open the section for OOo Writer, go to Basic Fonts (Western), set your desired font and size and exit.

Thanks Andre, that did the trick.

I still do not know why opening the styles and formatting and choosing the default and then modifying it did not stick.

I am wonder if this is a bug and should be reported as such.

Thanks again.

To set your default font on the fly only applies to the current document and the current session. To set it in Options, as outlined above, sets your choice as a Default for all the Open Office applications until you change it. You might, for example, prefer a different font or size when using a spreadsheet.

Not a bug .... but a feature ;-)

I know, but you would be able to set more options such as bold face and such which isn't available in the options section.

Thanks again.
