Problem With OpenOffice Beta 2 - Please Help!

Asked by taurus

I downloaded and installed openoffice Beta 2 and I have some problems.

1) I can't open documents on my desktop in openoffice beta. How can I click to open them in the beta?

2) I have a launcher in the desktop that allows me to open openoffice beta. However, when I launch the beta, I'm presented with a list of openoffice applications to open like, writer, spreadsheet, etc. How can I launch, say, only writer without having to open this list of applications?

3) There aren't individual openoffice applications in the menu. How can I create individual applications in the menu?

What version beta have you installed?

The latest one available through Ubuntu 8.04 (System menu, Administration, Synaptic) is 2.4.1.

Tony, like I said before in the start of the thread, I'm trying to install the beta, OpenOffice3 Beta.

1) change the default application for right click on a file and play with the options...

2)
Writer /opt/openoffice.org3/program/swriter
Database /opt/openoffice.org3/program/sbase
Calc /opt/openoffice.org3/program/scalc
Draw /opt/openoffice.org3/program/sdraw
Impress /opt/openoffice.org3/program/simpress
Math /opt/openoffice.org3/program/smath

3) create launcher icons to the applications listed at point 2

Hope this helps
