When I print from office, the text is real small and in the upper lefthand corner of the page, how do I enlarge it to normal page size?

Asked by James Jacobs

I am trying to produce documents in font 12 on normal page size. When I print the page it comes out very small print and the document is in the upper left hand portion of the page. How do I get it to fit the normal page size?

Hi James

Sounds like you have got a small page size specified either in your Page format (Format > Page), although that is unlikely, or in your printer settings (most likely).

So go to File > Printer Settings > Properties and check there.

Hope this helps

Hi James

I need more information.

What version of Ubuntu and OpenOffice.org are you using?

What is the make and model of your printer? What printer settings are you using (especially paper size)?

Do you see the same when you choose Print Preview, ie is the text in reduced size font in the top left of the frame?

If there is nothing you wouldn't want to share with me in the document, can you email me a copy? To find my email address, click on my name above.

Tony,
I hope this information is what you needed.  I have Unbuntu One, Unbuntu Extension for Firefox.  Open office 3.2.  My printer is a Brother MFC 7420.  Printer settings are: Letter, Portrait.  The small text does not show up under print review.
Also, if I print from PDF or a document sent to me, it prints normally.  The problem only happens if I generate a document in open office 3.2.

Hi Jake

I'm a bit at a disadvantage here as I have Ubuntu 11.04 with the new LibreOffice and the Print dialogues are different from what I remember in OpenOffice.org. What I have found in LibreOffice is a Print option to print more than 1 page per sheet, and if I set this to 4 pages per sheet, I get what you are experiencing. Does OOo have the same option? It will under the Options button when you do File > Print.

I had a similar problem, and I hope this solution helps you....

I was using LibreOffice in the Ubuntu 12.04.1 distro, but I think it would work for you.

When I was the print preview and I clicked the print button a preview of the page showed up with measurements on it. The measurements were 8.5 X 10.87 not 8.5 x 11. I changed the paper size everywhere, but for some reason it didn't register with the printer or with LibreOffice. When I reinstalled the driver and installed the printer again, it defaulted to the 8.5 x 11 letter size. I think that 8.5 x 10.87 is a centimeter size or something. I know it's not the best solution, but maybe someone can expand on this and explain it a little bit better.

Printer Properties, Job Options: pages per side.

Mine was set to 16 for some reason. Changed to 1. Bingo.

Can you help with this problem?
