A linux version of TextMaker is available, so you could continue using it on Ubuntu:
http://www.softmaker.com/english/ofl_en.htm

If you were to export your files it will be better if you'll save them in OpenDocument format (odt), openoffice's default (according to SoftMaker's forums they've added the possibility to export to this format in a recent service pack).

I don't know if openoffice can read text maker format, rather not, documentation doesn't seem to mention it anywhere. If you could provide a sample file i would check.

I didn't get your file, can you let me know where have you sent it, some filter might have stopped it.

Nevertheless, OpenOffice can't open tmd files coming with TextMaker demo version, it doesn't recognize the format at all. Within TextMaker there is an option to save as .odt, but i can't test -- it's disabled in the demo.

My preferred address from the overview should work: https://launchpad.net/~wrwrwr, all the other addresses there too. Have you already sent it somewhere?

Can you help with this problem?
