I am unable to install efax-gtk due to ignorance. help!

Try installing the package using package manager (synaptic).

To install a package usually you dont' need to download and to install the install file.

You can use:

1 - Applications→Add/Remove menu the easy way simply search the efax-gtk from search field select it and push the lower right button

2 - System → Administration → Synaptic Package Manager as said "Witold" a little bit complicated but same as the previous Add/Remove

3 - Using Applications→Accessories→Terminal and typing terminal this simply commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install efax-gtk

when the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter
