Philips Go Gear MP3 Player-- no software support from manufacturer
I purchases a PHILIPS GO GEAR MP3 PLAYER, and it has no software support from the manufacturer.

Hi,
If you want to access the Philips Go Gear MP3 player in Ubuntu, I think you can only communicate with it using the mtp protocol, not with the ptp or usb protocols.
Please run the following commands in the Linux console:
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install libmtp7 mtp-tools mtpfs gnomad2 rhythmbox
Then try accessing the MP3s using gnomad2 and/or using rhythmbox
If it does not work, it is because your exact model "SA5285/37" is not yet supported by the 45-libmtp7.rules Linux config file:
Unfortunately, I do not see your Philips model in the current Ubuntu rules list below:

Yes.... I should have mentioned... I fell in love with linux, but I'm new--

Step by step:
Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications-
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install libmtp7 mtp-tools mtpfs gnomad2 rhythmbox
give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.
Then open a Terminal from the menu Applications-
mtp-detect
please send us the output of the command.

THANK YOU SO MUCH... it worked! I am one step closer to getting rid of
Microsoft! YAH!
It's works I can even move entire folders into it...
My father bought me the MP3 player for my birthday, and now one month later
-- I can use it BECAUSE OF YOU!
