MeTV programme information not available for all channels

Asked by Roger Norton

I have converted an old laptop to a digital TV decoder and recorder, with an S-video output to a PAL TV.

I have installed MeTV, and it's working fine except that it does not display programme information for all channels. It only displays programme information for the channels it found in the first phase of scanning of the channels available from the Crystal Palace transmitter in the UK. This covers 6 channels (all BBC).

I do not have this problem with another, faster, laptop, so it may be a processor speed issue.

Computer Specs:

Dell Inspiron 4150, Intel Pentium IVm processor (1.7Ghz), 256Mb RAM, screen resolution 800 x 600.

OS: ubuntu 10.04

Any suggestions?

Hi,

If I'm understanding you issue correctly your missing some channels from
BBC. Now I have a rather fussy DVB-T USB device (Pinnacle 72e) now this
works just fine, however for the initial scan I need to add a little more
delay to acquire a lock on some stations here. To do this open a terminal,
and type me-tv --help you will see that there are some options that can be
used, now the one to add some more delay per channel scan is --read-timeout
(default is 5 seconds) try using 10th or 15 and see if that fixes the issue.
If it does, you can then edit the launcher for me-tv and add the to the end
of the startup, now if I'm not correct please advise!

On Launchpad, there is FAQ on the page for me-tv, take a look at those as
well, in particular the one about HD channels,

Also check the EPG properties, because the default about of EPG info to show
is 20 you may need to up that as well if you prefer all your channel info to
be displayed without the need to go to a second or third page (depending on
how many stations you have)

Let us know how you go....

"It only displays programme information" ... I take this to mean that Roger can see the channels but not the EPG data, correct Roger?

Not sure what the issue is but I would just delete your Me TV database (~/.local/share/me-tv/me-tv.db) and start again.

Hi Scott and Michael,

I've sorted the problem. I kept clicking on the channel names in the
EPG, and eventually the programme information was displayed. The
programme information was displayed for some channels before others,
in groups, presumably the groups contained those channels which were
scanned at the same time when the programme was first started up.

Thanks for this software - easy to use and effective.

Ha, I was going to mention that but figured that you would've tried it before going through the effort of writing a LP question. If your issue is resolved then please use LP to close the question.
