Nvidia-53x and up do not support setting the Powerlimit of Notebook GPU's

Asked by Steffen

Hi,
Setting the Powerlimit for Notebook GPU's does not work with 530 or newer.
Trying to set it results in an error message: "Changing power management limit is not supported for GPU: 00000000:01:00.0."
With Nvidia-525 this was possible, which is not supported with 24.04 anymore. This leads to me having a laptop with a 4090 that is now stuck with powerlimit of 80W.
I assume that there is no chance in getting support back for Nvidia-525?
Sorry for being so shameless and ask for support like this. But the alternative is to be stuck with an out of date OS.

I did build the 525 Driver and related packages for kernel 6.8 so that it works with Ubuntu 24.04 and i suppose that's the way to go for me.
My less tech savvy friend downgraded his Ubuntu back to 23.10 to have the old driver. Unfortunate but he wanted to keep it user friendly. Sorry for bothering you guys.
