upnp1.8?

Asked by emk2203

What are the plans to shift to upnp 1.8?

UPnP Mediaserver gerbera (successor of mediatomb) relies on upnp 1.8. Compilation is tedious and needs special flags on an ARM system.

Ubuntu is usually following Debian with new package versions.
Looking at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=884635 there seem to be several problems during the upgrade from upnp 1.6 to 1.8

I just stumbled over the package https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pupnp-1.8 in Ubuntu. Can this be helpful?

@Manfred Hampl: Yes, I overlooked this when searching for upnp first. But
gerbera still needs 1.8.3, while the distribution has only 1.8.2.

So it boils down to: When will 1.8.3 be available? I can try recompiling
when it arrives in Bionic.

"When will 1.8.3 be available?"

I would not expect this version to be available in Ubuntu before a similar version has been published for Debian sid or buster (currently only in "experimental"). https://packages.debian.org/search?suite=all&section=all&arch=any&searchon=names&keywords=libupnp
