Kguitar crashes on play

Asked by trevj

I loaded kguitar onto my system (Ubuntu 2.6.24-21-generic) today
I then loaded the sample file "the girl from impanema" getting the following messages as I tried to change the file type on the load dialogue.

kio (KMimeType): WARNING: KServiceType::offers : servicetype ThumbCreator not found
kio (KMimeType): WARNING: KServiceType::offers : servicetype ThumbCreator not found
kio (KMimeType): WARNING: KServiceType::offers : servicetype ThumbCreator not found
kio (KMimeType): WARNING: KServiceType::offers : servicetype ThumbCreator not found

I eventually loaded the file but when I hit "play" kguitar greyed-out with the following message

TSE3: Alsa: Received invalid input type

Also, I am not getting any sound out.

TIA

Hi,

Do you think it is the same bug as bug #183553? If yes, the bug has to be confirmed (it is going to get expired soon), otherwise a new bug report should be open (or this question can be turned into a bug report).

Hope this helps!

No I don't think that it's related. My installation crashed while trying
to play a .kg file - one of the samples provided on the Kguitar website.
I may also note that it crashes if I try to play a series of note input
from the keyboard with:
DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket
kbuildsycoca running...
DCOP Cleaning up dead connections.
TSE3: Alsa: Received invalid input type

I have not yet updated to Karmic, I am still running 9.04 with kernel
Linux 2.6.28-16-generic.
Because of the problems with kguitar I un-installed it and installed
TuxGuitar which does load and run all gp formats for me.
Thanks
Trevor

Thank you for taking the time to ask this question and learn about Ubuntu. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all answers in a timely manner.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you asked your question and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu version (11.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could give us some updated information so we can better help you out. Thanks!

Thanks for your perseverance but I changed to TuxGuitar soon after I
posted the query. Around that time I un-installed KGuitar and hence
have no way of re-testing.
Once again thanks for your interest.

Can you help with this problem?
