keep cannot create ftp-folder

Asked by markusheinzer

Under Ubuntu Edgy: when I try to backup something from a local folder to a remote ftp-folder, keep makes an error saying: "Fatal Error: Unable to create directory ftp:/<email address hidden>:21/doku" This error occurs either if the folder already exists or not. I did not forget a slash in the error message: there is only one slash after "ftp:" .

Do you have permission to create that directory?

Can you try manually:

ftp ftp.xx.com
specify user and password
cd /
mkdir doku

See what happens.

Thanks for the question.

Make sure that the user you use for the ftp connection have permission to create a directory in the ftp-root-directory.

I hope this helps

Thanks for your quick answers.
the User has permission to create directories. I tried this out manually like stated by Alan.
The error message occurs very quickly after running the backup. don't you think there is something with the "ftp:/" (only single slash)? Or maybe a connection to the kde-wallet (passwords)?

Of course, you could report a bug if nobody has any further suggestions.
