Reboot means power off then on. Do you mean reinstall? It is no bother to reboot an Ubuntu system just like rebooting a windows system after installing some updates.

Well, ignoring the wording, I would agree. A user can go to 'Tools->Address Book' and then export the address book for backup, but there seems to be no way to back up or print old email messages themselves. Seems like a feature that might be needed.
Otherwise, it might also be good to know what version of kmail, kdepim, and Ubuntu you are working with. Good luck.

I want to reinstall Ubuntu OS, however how do I save my kmail, favorites etc
before I reinstall?

If you backup ~/.mozilla it will backup your firefo settings (I guess you use crappy firefox)

If you run:

cd ~/; ls -a

You will see all the hidden config folders for your apps, you will also see ~/.config which has a few more in too, simply backup the ones you wish to keep the configs for, you may also find some in ~/.kde which will need archiving too

Can you help with this problem?
