Yes, Kaffeine can't find the drive. soooo...
apt-get remove kaffeine
apt-get install vlc
no problems now.

Kaffeine would not play a DVD while vlc would. How can you say that the program functions properly? Because it failed to play the DVD, I removed the program from my computer. I suggest others do also.
