I am getting a triangle with exclaimation in it WHY
If the system can put the weird notification up there why is the HPLIP and Firestarter not there ?
There must be something blocking HPLIP and Firestarter from being up there as it has My Weather, E-mail, Battery, WiFi , volume control, Time, and the Ubuntu Icon for shutting down and other stuff . . Some days there is a tiny spot where if you run the mouse over it the HPLIP is sort of there and it gives you a drop down menu . . Wonder if it is only after I print something will check . . No that is not it either
I keep getting "The information is out dated maybe caused by network problems or a repository not there any more . . Please up date manually " and a gob more stuff . . . If I can get here and put the message here there is no network problems means you people have removed a repositiory or something I would guess right ?

You are the same guy with this question : https:/
correct ?
So I assume that something is going on with firestarter..
Firewalls in Ubuntu are not easy . Iptables , apparmor .. etc , all these security tools needs lot of reading and lot of configuration .
Ubuntu have set up for you (and me) from the beginning , so we have not to struggle various settings that can hurt the system.
I'm not able to manage these tools without to screw up my connection , are you ? If yes , then forget my answer.
Try to reset any settings you've done with these firewall tools and/or uninstall firestarter completely..
Thanks

Well there is a sort of bigger empty spot between the notifications spot and the blue e-mail spot and if you run the mouse over it and click it shows a drop down munu of the HPLIP status service But why the HPlLIP icon is not there is weird

Actually Firestarter is so easy to setup that is is not funny just answer questions and click forward and it is installed and running
I has worked for me since way back in 8.04 . . I am now running 12.10 and the error says FAILED to open System Log . . And no event Information is avalaible with a big ORANGE OK button ! !

Well , if you say so (that is funny and easy , I believe you).
So maybe this is a Firestarter's bug in 12.10 ? Check it out, search for bugs and if no relevant appears , you can try to report a bug by yourself.
Also you have proposed-updates enabled. I assume (you said you use Ubuntu since 8.04) you know what proposed-updates are..
https:/
I guess you will face similar (or even worse) problems in near future with proposed-updates enabled.
Thanks
Can you help with this problem?
