No new printer icon, cannot connect to IP
Hello. I just installed Ubuntu for the first time (version 10.04, 64 bit). I tried to install a network printer but was not able to. When I go to Printing under System, there is no New Printer icon displayed as stated in the documentation. Also in the menu under New, the printer option is grayed out and cannot be chosen.
When I try to connect to the printer (using the menu under server), I enter the IP address (172.25.25.etc.) and it fails to connect.
This is an HP P2015dn LaserJet printer. I went to the HP website and followed the instructions for 'automatically' installing the HPLIP in a terminal window. Everything went as described (http://
Please help, I would think this should not be this hard. What's up with no New Printer icon?!?
