It is probably a bug, because I have the same problem.

Try enabling the proposed repo in software centre, it may help.

I had the same problem. After changing language from finnish to english in ubuntu (Language for menus and windows) I was able to add Facebook to Gwibber.

I'm having the same problem with Gwibber 2.30.1 is there any more information I can provide to help fix this?
Changing languages isn't really an option for me bacause I don't speak Finnish :P

Facebook is throttling gwibber. as previously gwibber pulled 270kb data on every refresh even if there was nothing new. that bug is now fixed but for gwibber to settle down it will take more and more people to upgrade to 2.30.1

Still doesn't work for me, i have Gwibber 2.30.0.1 installed and i've been trying to install my Facebook account with no sucess. is there a way to fix it or do we must wait for a new version maybe?, i just have no clue since i started using ubuntu 2 days ago and i'm just getting used to entire OS.

Adrian, try updating. Go to System => Administration => Update Manager or enter in a terminal:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

the latest Gwibber is working for me :D

well i did just what you said and most of my apps were updated but whan i checked Gwibber i noticed it still was on 2.30.1 version :S and still have the same issue lol..

Hmm, yep, that's the current version. Not exacty sure what's going on. Maybe someone witha few more skill than I can can help. Have you tried posting on the forums? www.ubuntuforums.org

No problem, I wish I could help you more, I've only been using Ubuntu about a year and I don't have all the necessary skill to diagnose a problem like this. It' weird though, after I posted a question here I shut my computer down for the night and the next day a tried again, and added my facebook account and it worked fine. But I'm sure you've tried restarting.

The same problem with me. I use Gwibber 2.30.1 and can't connect to my Facebook account. I tried many times, I logout and shutted down before try again, but still can't connect.

I have updated my gwibber and the problem is solved automatically.

@shankar: Which version do you use? I supposed 2.30.1 was the last version.

I have just updated my gwibber and this solved my problem.

I now use 2.30.1 latest version of Gwibber

The problem still appears with Empathy 2.30.2.
