Is this an Ubuntu install that you have been using for sometime and have some data stored or can you just uninstall it without any worries? A much better way of installing Ubuntu is by following these guides.
https:/
https:/
Installing Ubuntu inside Windows using the Wubi means that Ubuntu is dependant on various Windows systems working which we know are unreliable. It's a bit like building a house on shifting sands. The proper dual-boot described in the guides above makes a very robust and reliable system and installing it should fix your mbr and sort out the boot into Windows so that that works again.
If you have data stored in the Wubi then we will try to help you access that data, please let us know.
Hope this helps
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Using the machine you are using to email us could you download and make an Ubuntu Cd?
http://
https:/
usually just double-clicking the iso image is enough to start it writing to the blank Cd you put in. I usually find that cheaper cd's are better for this than more expensive ones, i tend to buy a pack of 10 as that also then gives me a handy storage 'spindle' for them.
If you can't get Cd's but have got a usb stick of 4gb or more then we could use that instead, please let me know.
If you can get Cd's but can't spend long downloading on that machine then maybe Wolvix Cub would be better for this particular task.
Ok, please let me know how it's going. Also i guess this is stopping you boot into Windows? Hopefully we can fix all of that in one go soon.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Ok, there's a list of ways of avoiding needing a Cd
https:/
Really all we want is a text-editor that can edit the menu.lst in grub4dos. There are lots of other ways, such as a tiny distro called sliTaz which is a 30Mb download but will need a blank cd. Also there are tools like
http://
this link is to their Windows version.
Really it would be best to get an Ubuntu Cd to do this and more but it really needs to be 8.10 or 8.04. Sorry i haven't been much help :(
Good luck and regards from

Have you ever used a commnd-line before? Does the "grub> error" look like a command-line? Can you press enter and type in
find /boot/grub/stage1
does this give any results?
