Reinstate the Windows bootloader using the Windows install CD, or you can install a supported release and it should install Grub to the MBR and the dual boot should work.

Try to use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

If you are still trying to use Ubuntu 10.10 you will have to spend more time on it. See the graph in the following link
http://www.ubuntu.com/info/release-end-of-life

For installation instructions:
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/install-desktop-long-term-support

So try to use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and try again.
Then you skip my comments (#6 & #7) and continue.

Can you help with this problem?
