how to resize installed ubuntu 10.04 os partitions

i installed ubuntu 10.04 os in seperate partion which is only 6G.B space while am having xp os on another partion i installed 2 softwares but now i cant able to download any movies its showing not enough space in the disk but i want to download movies and have to install many software what can i do...?

Use the Ubuntu install cd boot your pc from it and accessing to the menu System→Administration→gparted please resize your partitions...

but i don't have ubuntu O.S c.d and i don't want to boot my system once again because it will lead to install all the software once again is their any other way to increase the partition as we do in windows...?

No you don't need to reinstall any sysop using the live cd in this way give you the chance to resize your partition...

You can download the iso image from win and you can create the Ubuntu 10.04 standard desktop install cd to use to resize your partitions is the usual method we use.

tell me clearly is it like taking the old O.S and putting newly if it so i don't want to do that if it like just increasing the partition space only without loosing the documents i will do gparted
