newbie needs to install ies4linux under wine

Wine is installed, as are fonts from Microsoft. ies4linux is downloaded in the home file. What I need to do is install ies4linux .tar.gz in wine. It was installed in Ubuntu, but the "dependent program" in wine could not run. Terminals and commands are not familiar, the results are in some fashion file could not be found or no command.
For the moment my goal is to install the ies4linux in wine, however in time there will be other programs not on the available programs menu.
Looking at the list of topics none addressed my problem.
  Please talk down to me, THIS IS DAY 4 OF LINUX, thanks.

This might help you to install the program
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/ies4linux
you have downloaded a tar.gz file. it is a linux program so it wont run in wine, wine run some exe files.

You need to install cabextract and Wine, well you have wine so you are half way there. follow the info on there pages and hopefully it will go well.
