How to get gsr to continue recording when computer is idle?

Asked by Brian Vargo

GSR works fine if the machine is in use but as soon as it goes idle (i.e., I go and do something else) and (I assume) the screensaver comes on, gsr stops recording despite the source continuing. Also, I noticed that if I'm using a pulseaudio virtual speaker monitor as my input, gsr stops recording if I am using VLC to play through the speakers. How do I get gsr to always record despite these other events? (When I say it stops recording, the time continues to run but it stops recording from the source, i.e., it's capturing dead air.)

I assume that "GSR" refers to gnome-screen-recorder and not any of the other possibilities https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSR

Have you tried disabling the screen saver and/or the screen lock function?

Can you help with this problem?
