Lenovo T431s wireless broken

Asked by Hastings Greer on 2013-07-28

Hello! I have a Lenovo T431s laptop, and have just installed Ubuntu Studio Raring Ringtail to its harddrive. I cannot get wireless internet while booted as Ubuntu: the networking icon does not show any wireless options.
I have folowed this procedure: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WirelessTroubleshootingProcedure

I have a 03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6235 [8086:088f] (rev 24)

here is the output of the diagnostic command:

Please connect to the Internet via cable and run this command in the Terminal:

sudo apt-get install linux-firmware

then reboot!

When I entered the command, I got this result:

hastings@calliope:~$ sudo apt-get install linux-firmware

Once I rebooted, wireless internet still didn't work. What should I do from
here?

I suggest you report a bug

To solve this issue, I suggest installing the 64-bit version of kernel v3.10.4-saucy here:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.4-saucy/

This is recommended in following bugreport:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1180256

See here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1180256/comments/12
