it does not play videos and music neither on line nor on the players it comes with

Asked by juan martinez cruz

i am trying to a video on you-tube and it tells me i have to get the proper plug-ins so when i do so and i choose the plug-in for ubuntu it does not download it, what is more when i choose another plug-in version it does download it but it ain't work.
it does the same for music it does recognize the music files but it does not play them. And one other thing it opens some files that i created in word but some others it says that it does not support them, i was wondering if it has to do with the version of the office i created them with or what it is going on?

i would appreciate it if you can help me,
juan mc

Please remove from internet downloaded plugins first.
Regarding firefox and flashplayer please use package management, e.g. software-center
- for Oneiric you can try flashplugin-downloader or flashplugin-installer also for other Ubuntu versions.

You-tube videos can also be viewed with totem video player.

Regarding word or openoffice files please post a separate question, which makes it easier for others to follow on the subject. Please also add specific steps on the procedure which lead to the issue. Thanks.

thank you sam, i will follow your advise about writing one issue at a time and regarding the solution you proposed it worked so i thank you again, by the way that solved the problem with the multimedia player as well.

thank you sam, i will follow your advise about writing one issue at a time and regarding the solution you proposed it worked so i thank you again, by the way that solved the problem with the multimedia player as well. though it did something wierd when loading up flaspugin-downloader and after reestarting my pc it showed as already installed but it still did not play the videos so it took me 4 times reestarting the machine as though it could work.
